Dr. John Nelson leads UTAC Group with a clear vision for innovation, operational excellence, and global growth. With over 40 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, he brings deep technical expertise and strategic leadership to the company.
Since joining UTAC in October 2012, Dr. Nelson has guided the Group through major milestones, including exceeding US$1 billion in revenue and expanding its global presence.
Previously, he was EVP and COO at ON Semiconductor, where he oversaw global operations and helped double the company’s revenue to US$3 billion. He also served as CEO of 1st Silicon, successfully leading the company to breakeven and its eventual acquisition by X-FAB Foundry.
Dr. Nelson's earlier roles include executive leadership positions at General Instrument/General Semiconductor, Unitrode, Fairchild Semiconductor, and Analog Devices.
He holds a Ph.D. and B.Sc. (Hons) in Physics from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland.
Regina brings strategic vision and cross-functional leadership to UTAC, championing customer-centric transformation across procurement, business operations, and service delivery. Since joining UTAC Singapore in 2009, she has played a pivotal role in aligning demand planning, capacity, and supply strategies to drive long-term growth and agile execution.
With over 25 years of industry experience, Regina has held senior roles in materials management, planning, procurement, and supply chain at Elbiru Electronics, Creative Technology, and Philips Singapore. Prior to UTAC, she served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Materials and Supply Chain Management at STATS ChipPAC.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of South Australia.
Scott is a seasoned semiconductor packaging leader with more than 25 years of international industry and executive management experience. His career spans multiple pillars of the ecosystem—including OSAT, foundry, capital equipment, and materials—positioning him as a versatile and strategic leader.
Prior to joining us, he served as CEO of Revasum, where he led transformational growth and advanced operational performance. Previously, he held senior executive roles with global responsibility across Sales & Marketing, Corporate Strategy, Product Line Management, Technology Development, and Operations at leading organizations, including GlobalFoundries, PTI, StatsChipPac, and Amkor.
Scott brings deep expertise in building businesses and managing complex operations across Asia and North America. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and is the co-inventor of nine patents, reflecting his strong foundation in both engineering and innovation.
Dr. Nathapong brings operational and technical leadership to UTAC, ensuring excellence across our Thailand facilities.
He joined UTAC in 2009 and previously served as Vice President of Research & Development. With over 25 years of industry experience, he holds more than 40 international patents and publications and has held senior R&D roles at Schott, STATS ChipPAC, and Infineon.
Dr. Nathapong earned a Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering from Oxford Brookes University, England.
Frank leads strategic account development for UTAC in the U.S., focusing on strengthening customer partnerships and driving business growth. Since joining UTAC USA in December 2013 as Director of Sales, he has played a key role in deepening engagement with major accounts across the region.
With over 25 years of experience in the global semiconductor industry, Frank has held senior roles in sales and business development, including Executive Vice President at Commercial Solar Power and Vice President of Business Development at STATS ChipPAC.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Science and Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.
Hai Chuan plays a key leadership role in UTAC’s growth strategy, overseeing operations across China and ensuring performance, efficiency, and operational excellence at our manufacturing facilities. He is also responsible for aligning site execution with group-level objectives to support business expansion.
Since joining UTAC in January 2010, he has been instrumental in strengthening the company’s presence in the region. With over 25 years of semiconductor industry experience, he brings deep expertise in manufacturing restructuring and turnaround.
Prior to UTAC, he held leadership roles at Hewlett-Packard and STATS ChipPAC. Hai Chuan holds a B.Sc. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Janice leads UTAC’s legal and sustainability functions, ensuring compliance with global regulations while advancing the Group’s commitment to responsible and ethical business practices. She plays a key role in guiding corporate governance and driving sustainability initiatives across the organization.
Janice joined UTAC in July 2015 and brings more than 20 years of experience as a lawyer and legal counsel. She has deep expertise in corporate transactions and finance, having worked at leading law firms in Singapore and the U.S., as well as in an in-house legal role at the Singapore office of a major Japanese investment bank.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws from the National University of Singapore and is admitted to both the Singapore Bar and the Roll of Solicitors of England and Wales.
Chee Yong supports UTAC’s strategic direction with deep financial expertise, playing a critical role in driving the Group’s long-term financial success and corporate development initiatives. He oversees financial planning, analysis, and execution to ensure UTAC remains well-positioned for sustainable growth and value creation.
He joined UTAC in February 2013 as Director of Corporate Finance and brings over 25 years of experience in corporate finance within the semiconductor industry. Prior to UTAC, he served as Financial Controller at Advanced Micro Devices Singapore.
Chee Yong holds a Degree in Accountancy from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
David leads UTAC’s Corporate Research & Development, driving the Group’s technology strategy, innovation roadmap, and advanced packaging initiatives. He oversees Corporate R&D and Test Development functions, ensuring alignment across design, simulation, and technology enablement teams to support UTAC’s long-term growth.
He joined UTAC in 2025 and brings over 28 years of experience in semiconductor R&D, spanning advanced packaging, process development, and technology leadership. Prior to UTAC, he held key roles at TF-AMD, Amkor Technology, and STATS ChipPAC.
David holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering.
