Our mission is to build a sustainable business providing value to our customers, partners and stakeholders, while ensuring the integrity of our global supply chain and delivering on our commitment to make a positive impact to the industry, community and environment in which we operate.
Our approach to sustainability is centred on identifying and managing potential environmental impact through initiatives aimed at maximising energy efficiency, effective resource management, and reducing carbon emissions. In addition, we hold ourselves to high levels of corporate governance, adhering to all relevant local and international regulations, standards and guidelines, and putting in place systematic monitoring and risk management to achieve business sustainability.
We devote focus to developing and implementing responsible business practices across our global footprint, and have established systems and processes for continuous improvement in our operations.
In 2012, we centralized the responsibilities under executive sponsorship and launched a cross-functional team to drive major initiatives to reduce UTAC’s carbon footprint. We have been tracking resource use and emissions data since 2012 and have continually improved our tracking methodology to improve data quality for better decision making.
In 2024, we established the UTAC Global Sustainability Office, with support from the senior management team, to implement and manage UTAC’s sustainability strategy, policies and goals.
Compared to 2019 emissions, 2023 Scope 1 & 2 location-based emissions decreased by 12%, and 2023 Scope 1 & 2 market-based emissions decreased by 32.9%. In 2023, renewable energy accounts for more than 20% of UTAC’s energy consumption.
UTAC is committed to continually improving water efficiency. In 2023, UTAC utilised 1,125ML of reclaimed water for production use.
Since 2019, UTAC has increased our waste recycling rate from 33% to 50%.
In 2022, we made a
100% shift to use renewable energy for UTAC Dongguan through the signing of Power Purchase Agreements, which has significantly helped to reduce our Scope 2 emissions.
As of today, UTAC has successfully installed three solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
In 2023, our three Operating solar PV systems had a total generating capacity of
5,692kWp
We currently have a fourth solar PV system in the pipeline and expect it to be operating by 2025.

We implemented a successful initiative that enabled us to achieve a 100% domestic waste recycling rate in our operations in Thailand. We are able to recycle plastic and metals from our operations, and food waste is repurposed as fish food or processed into a fuel blend.
Since 2022, UTAC has achieved an annual waste recycling rate of 50%.
